Chaarya is an ideal centre point for the pilgrimage, nature lover or wildlife enthusiast. The sacred Temple dedicated to God Skandhakumar or “Kataragama” is half-an-hour away and the ancient Tissamaharama temple is situated within just a five minutes’ drive. Pick your National Park among Yala, Bundala, Lunugamvehera or Kumana which are all within a few minutes to an hours’ drive away, and all packed with endemic plant and wildlife, as well as vivacious bird life. Take a dip in the Tissa water tank, adjacent to the Tissa temple, or in the Yodha tank situated a mere 700m away from the resort. These reservoirs were created as parts of the highly developed irrigation system of the era gone by.
